Your coach – a little bit about me
I am Erzsebet Sinka, an Archery GB registered county-level archery coach.
How did I become an archery coach? It was twenty years ago when I tried archery first, on a holiday. I enjoyed it so much that as soon as I got home I looked for an archery club. I was eager to shoot and practice and I loved every moment of it. Retiring from competing due to an injury was a turning point for me. I knew I wanted to continue being part of this amazing sport. Although I could not shoot competitively anymore, my injury created a great opportunity to focus on coaching. I started my coaching studies at the University of Physical Education in Budapest. Two years later I founded an archery club with two friends where I did coaching for 10 years. I worked with fantastic people, archers and experts of several areas, and I was lucky enough to learn from great coaches like Coach Kim, Kisik Lee and Mario Codispoti.
Archery is a fantastic journey. It can be competitive, meditative and sometimes challenging. You can learn so much about yourself while shooting, and you can gain important life skills that will help you cope with daily life.
During these years, I coached archers at all age groups, helped them to develop their archery technique and prepare for competitions. I was also deeply involved in coaching education development. In 2015, I moved to the UK, where I have been fortunate to work for three years at an archery shop, providing assistance and advice to archers.
Understanding the various aspects of teaching archery and personal development has always been important to me. Along with my Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, I have earned EMAU Level 3 certificate in Portugal, KSL Level 1 coaching certificate in Belgium, and participated in several World Archery Coaching Seminars in the UK. I also visited Coach Kim’s Archery Centre in South-Korea. Learning about archery has been a life-long journey for me.
My key areas of expertise is recurve target archery – recreational and competitive:
Shooting technique: analysis and development
Physical training in archery
Setting up and adjusting a bow
