In our courses you will shoot with Recreational Take-Down Recurve Bow
however you can also try other style of bows (see below).

Recreational Recurve Bows

Many recreational archers choose take-down recurve bows so-called training bows to shoot with. These bows are simple, easy to assemble and not very expensive. Training bows have different parts such as riser/handle, upper and lower limb, bowstring, arrow rest. The limbs are removable so they can be replaced with more powerful ones once you are ready for it. Majority of the recreational training bows allow you to install different accessories such as sight, stabilizer and button/cushion plunger. Most archery clubs use these type of bows for introducing archery for beginners.

The risers of training bows we use are laminated hardwood constructions that are lightweight and easy to handle. The limbs are screw-on fitted to the riser and are made of laminated wood and fibre. The length of the bows vary between 48”-70”, the draw weights vary between 12-22 lbs. Everyone can find a bow that is suitable for her/his size and strength. Both right and left-handed bows are available.

Risers and limbs you can use:

  • For adults: Winners Optimo-Alpha risers and Black Sheep Apollo limbs (former SF Optimo limbs).
  • For children: Black Sheep Apollo risers and limbs.

Olympic Recurve Bows

The modern recurve bow is the only style that is permitted to use in the Olympic Games and commonly used by recreational and competitive archers. Recurve bows today are so-called “take-down” bows which mean that the limbs can be detached from the riser for easier transportation and storage, and for interchangeability. The vast majority of Olympic style take-down recurve bows on the market are designed to use ILF standard (International Limb Fitting) so you can mix and match the ILF risers and ILF limbs from different brands and they should connect and disconnect easily.

Olympic riser and limbs you can try (for adults only):

  • Riser: KAP Winstorm Riser, Black
  • Limbs: KAP Winstorm II Carbon/Foam Limbs (lighter poundage)

Recurve Field Bows

Recurve field bows (hunting bows) are usually made in smaller size. The most common sizes are in between 58 to 64 inches. Generally, field bows are more powerful and due to its sizes, these bows can be manoeuvred more efficiently in the bushes, tree stands or ground blinds.

On request we can introduce you the 60” Touchwood Taipan take-down recurve bow. The Touchwood Taipans are elegantly designed bows made from hard maple wood. Limbs are made of glass fibre-reinforced material. The Taipan allows you to install sight, stabilizer and a button/cushion plunger.

The bow is available for right and left-handed archers.

American Longbow (Flatbow)

American longbows were used by Native Americans. They look similar to an English Longbow but there are some major differences. American longbows are flatter at the limbs whilst English Longbows supposed to have round bellies and limbs. A flat bow has got a shelf for the arrow, unlike English Longbow, where the arrow rests on your finger as there is no arrow shelf.

On request, you can try a very beautifully crafted flat bow the 68″ Samick Cheetah. This is a right-handed American longbow with a draw weight of 30lbs. The Cheetah made of hard maple, rosewood and purple heart and white ash is used for the handle. The limbs are laminated with black fibreglass.

With the Cheetah, you shoot arrows directly off the shelf. For shooting, we provide wooden arrows fletched with feathers.

White Feather Horsebow (Precious)

This is an elegant one-piece, ambidextrous (right and left handed) 48” Korean style horse bow made from lightweight carbon construction. The bow has a smooth draw and impressive arrow speeds. The grip on the bow is wrapped to give a comfortable hand position. There is no shelf on the bow so with a horse bow we shoot the arrow off the finger. When shooting, in order to protect ourselves from the arrow and the string we normally use armguard to protect our forearms from being hit by the bowstring, we also use a glove or a finger tab that protect our fingers when drawing the string back and on release and finally we use a glove for the protection of the hand holding the bow.

The horse bow can be used by a standing archer but its design was developed for the needs of archery from horseback. In the old days, horsebows were used for hunting, for protecting herds, and for war. Horse archery was a basic survival skill.

Shoot Through Bow

This bow is good for an introduction to recurve archery. It provides really good accuracy for target shooting. Shoot through bows are ambidextrous so it is ideal for both right and left-handed archers. The riser is rigid due to its metal body that gives you a better consistency. Shoot through design keeps hands safe from arrow contact.

The riser is compatible with a wide range of screw-on limbs from multiple brands.
